Conjunctions
Dark bodies cross a lit field. In each painting a procession of orbs moves through a divided space — deep blue on one side, heat on the other — and a broad current of gold runs between them, acting as the seam the bodies have to pass through.

What a conjunction is
In astronomy, a conjunction is the moment two bodies appear to meet. They are not touching. They are separated by an enormous distance. They only look aligned because of where the observer happens to be standing.
That is the whole premise of the series. The meeting is real to the person watching it and not real in space, and the painting is made from the vantage point rather than the fact.
What recurs
A field split into two temperatures. A row of dark, orb-like bodies in transit rather than at rest. A gold passage doing the structural work — current, shore, seam, aperture — depending on the painting.
The bodies are never given a scale. They can be read as planets, as heads in a procession, as stones in water. The paintings hold that ambiguity on purpose and decline to resolve it.
